Almighty God, give your Church the grace
to proclaim the power of Jesus, our Risen Lord.
We have received the first fruits of his grace:
prepare us for the full revelation of his gifts.
A blessed Easter season to all!. For 50 days we continue to rejoice. Alleluia! Alleluia!
The prayer above is for Tuesday of the second week of Easter - not celebrated this year because it was replaced by the Feat of St. Mark. We share already now in the Resurrection!
A Mass of thanksgiving for the canonization of Francisco and Jacinta
will be
held at St. Saviour’s Cathedral, Oudtshoorn,
on
Saturday 13 May 2017 at 9.00am.
Rosary
will be prayed at 8.30am.
This is
also the 100th anniversary of the first apparition of Our Lady at
Fatima and the day on which Pope Francis will canonize the two believing peasant children in Fatima.
Martyrs
aside, Francisco and Jacinta will be the youngest children ever to be
canonized.
And Jesus said: “Let the
children come to me
for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.”
Blessed
Jacinta said to her cousin Lucia: “[When
I am in Heaven] I’m going to love Jesus very much, and the Immaculate Heart of
Mary, too. I’m going to pray a lot for you, for sinners, for the Holy Father,
for my parents and my brothers and sisters, and for all the people who have
asked me to pray for them…”
The patronal feast of the Diocese of Oudtshoorn is the Immaculate Heart
of Mary.

YOUTH ! YOUTH !
YOUTH !
Please pray for
God’s blessing on the Synod on Youth that will take place in Rome next
year. All young people in the Diocese
are invited to participate in responding to a world-wide questionnaire which
has been sent out to all parishes and youth groups. Urgent! Responses have to be in to Fr. Dennis Ongansie by 15 May!
Preparations are
well under way for our own Diocesan mini-World Youth Day 09-11 June. We are hoping and praying that Dysselsdorp
will be flooded with Catholic Youth that weekend. Please encourage all young people to
attend! And the young-of-heart! I shall be there on all 3 days! Our faith is Forever Young!!
Welcome to Sr.
Jesline Maliakel who has joined the Franciscan Clarist community at
Dysselsdorp. I shall give her a special
welcome when I celebrate Mass with the community next week. Sr. Jesline who comes from India is no
stranger to South Africa. She
previously ministered for 6 years as teacher in the Diocese of Mthatha.
May the Lord bless
you during this Easter season and in the words of Romans 6:11 –
“And you, too, must
think of yourselves as dead to sin, and alive with a life that looks towards God,
through Christ Jesus our Lord
